Kathmandu, ANN

After an engine flame out of a Dornier 228 aircraft enroute Lukla to Kathmandu, Sita Air managed to make a successful emergency landing in Kathmandu. The aircraft with registration ‘9N-AJH’ made the emergency landing at 8:51 AM in the morning today. The aircraft had lost power in its right engine and landed with remaining one left engine only. The aircraft engine failed just a couple of minutes after it took off from Lukla and the Captain and First Officer flew it all the way to Kathmandu with only one engine.

Basically, the multi engine aircraft are capable of flying with only one engine too, but it can be involved with very complicated risks and a lot of tasking overload for pilots to control the aircraft for old design technology aircraft like Dornier 228 aircraft. However, Captain Bharat Thapa in the command of the aircraft managed to land the crippled aircraft safe to the ground. Hats off to the trained and skillful captain for his efforts and success.

The aircraft was flying only with crew on its way back to Kathmandu from Lukla. Only 2 pilots were and a Cabin Crew on board the aircraft and both of them are safe and uninjured. The Ci-pilot flying was F/O Pradeep Adhikari and Cabin Crew Madhoo KC.
